Worship the Mayor suggested that during the present labour dispute that backyard burning of household garbage be permitted. Moved by Alderman Wright: Seconded by Alderman Muldoon: That'-for the duration of the current labour dispute the backyard burnin- of household refuse be allowed and that the provisions of the City's Fire Prevention By-law in that regard be suspended for the duration of the labour dispute. Carried, Alderman Traboulay voted against the resolution. NEW BUSINESS: -Alderman Wright advised that in his opinion the Council meeting this evening should have been held in City Hall, despite the labour dispute. His Worship the Mayor advised that the venue of the meeting had been changed because of many of the citizens would not want to cross union picket lines but did want to attend the Council meeting. Alderman Traboulay referred to the property tax imposed for school purposes and advised that provincial action would be causing large increases in ‘that tax this year and he proposed a notice of motion to request the Provincial Government to grant a $50 increase in the Home Owner Grant this year.
