= Defence! SATURDAY SOCCER action was pretty hectic at Christie Park last weekend. The warm, sunny weather even brought out dozens of parents and fans to help cheer for the youths, while working on their tans at the same time. Boys bring || home bronze OUR UNDER 16 boys youth soccer team struck hard and fast in Nanaimo last week, snagging the bronze medal at the Provin- cial B Challenge Cup. The boys played three games in total at the weekend tournament. In the opening match Terrace was on fire, dumping the oppos- ing Surrey squad by a score of 6-3. The second match was playcd a mere 45 minutes later, barely giving the boys a chance to catch their breaths. Their exhaustion was evident as the team went down 5-0 to Kelowna. But our squad was not about to give up, rebound- ing for a strong third match, and it was a heart-stopper. Terrace fought hard against the rival Coquitlam forces, coming up with a 2-2 lie at full time. In nail-biting overtime, the boy’s focus paid off with a goal. The win gave them third place and a bronze medal at the tournament. This is the first time cver that a Terrace team has placed in the medals in the Provincial B Challenge Cup.
