THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM February 17, 1994 To: Janna Taylor, Parks & Recreation Director From: Paul Jackson, Technical Maintenance Supervisor Subject: Dehumidifier Replacement (Old Arena) This request is for the approval to purchase a new dehumidifier for the Old Arena. The existing unit was installed over 15 years ago and has suffered a burnout in the compressor. Due to the fact that the bumout has introduced contaminants into the remainder of the unit, it cannot be repaired. Unfortunately, the type of compressor used in these units are of the sealed type and show no signs prior to the breakdown or bumout. Our refrigeration contractor can supply a new unit in approximately three weeks. This would be in operation before the Annual Bantam Tournament. This would greatly reduce or eliminate the fog which may form on the glass in the arena due to extra humidity and a rise in air temperature. The costs involved are as follows: Dehumidifier f..0.b. PoCo Recreation Centre installed on platform $11,560 Modifications to Electrical (if required) 700 Modifications to Platform ( if require) 1,000 TOTAL $13,260 Please feel free to contact me if any further information is required.
