Burke Mountain Trail Riders

Burke Mountain Area, Loss of this connector woulda be most regrettable,

as tay easily be seen from the considerable degree of use being made

of the PoCo Trail and connecting dykes along DeBouville Slough and. the
Pitt River, Many of the riders using these facilities originate their use
in areas west of Coast Meridian Road and north of Victoria Drive.

Extensive experience in heavily developed areas of the United States and :
Europe hasdemonstrated unequivocally that dense urban settlement does not :
necessarily exclude eqvestrian recreation, and that such recreation

is compatible with other activities such as hiking, bicycling, etc.

Access to this experience is available, and this Association would be most
pleased to cooperate with civic planners and/or others to make it

available, ,

We therefor urge Municipal Council to consider modification of the
present proposal to ensure that this traditional component of the local
way of life may continue,
