June 2nd, 1975 inquired whether the applicant would have a time limit in which to have the work completed, and Alderman Thompson advised that the applicant would like to commence work as soon as possible in order to take advantage of the prime building weather during the summer season. Alderman Ranger pointed out that the lots are 157' deep, and that in view of the housing policy adopteu | ouncil last week, stated he felt the land could be put to better use as there is more square footage than required for single family development; however, Alderman Thompson referred to the existing dwellings on the property, and stated that at least one is substantial enough not to warrant being demolished. Acting-Mayor Alderman Traboulay pointed out that while the Housing Committee did stress making better use of land by construction of Townhouses, top priority was given to the small "starting home" type of residence, such as would be provided by the upgrading of the existing ouses mentioned in the rezoning application now under consideration. NEW BUSINESS: q Ald.Keryluk re Alderman Keryluk referred to his request last week that clarification ‘school accommodation s figures be obtained on school accommodation figures, and Alderman Thompson suggested that this matter be discussed with officials of the School Board at a meeting to be held at the Viscount Elementary School tomorrow evening. The City Administrator advised that the figures in the Yousing Committee Report did not include figures on current enrollment, an: while these figures are presently on hand, it is not possible to show a comparison from them. The City Planner advised that it was indicated to him at one of the School Board meetings that student enrollment in School District No. 43 is continually dropping, and that this was the basis on which the September, 1974 figures were projected. Ald.Keryluk re Alderman Keryluk then commented on the May Day festivities, and May Day festivities,etc. stated he felt the parade on Saturday was most impressive; however, he noted the local high school band was conspicuous by its absence and yet bands from such distant cities as Seattle participated in the parade. Acting-Mayor Alderman Traboulay stated there probably would be some comments made on the matter in the final May Day report.
