Justice Building Budget Attached are some details of the 1978 Provisional Budget for the Justice Building Operation. Mayor Campbell, Jim Maitland and myself, as weil as Mayor Tonn and his staff have met with the R.C.M.P. to go over the Budget and have trimmed it to the present total of $427,683. This is up approximately 4.1% over the 1977 Budget. Our share of this cost is approximately one third. Under our agreement with the District of Coquitlam, Council are required to approve this Budget annually. The District of Coquitlam have already passed a resolution adopting this amount. 2. Conferences The B.C. Recreation Association are holding their annual Conference in Vernon, April 26th to 30th, 1978. Janna Taylor is the President of the Recreation Society this year and will therefore be participating fully in the Conference proceedings. I would recommend that she be authorized to attend and that her expenses be paid. Janna has also requested that Mike Reddington be given permission to attend a two day Pre-conference Seminar in connection with the same Conference. Normally we have not approved annual attendance at conferences for employees other than Department Heads, although we have sent employees at the Super- visory level to conferences or seminars where the course content is of particular interest. These approvals have only been on a ‘one shot' basis and not on an annual approval basis. In this case, Mike and Darlene Cross have attended the Conference from time to time. Last year, Darlene Cross was authorized to attend and we paid partial expenses with the City covering the registration fee and per diem expenses for meals, but not travelling or hotel accommodation. If Council wish to approve Mike's attendance on this basis, it would be consistent with the handling of this particular conference in the past. LD. Pollock LDP /w attach:
