Re: Regional District -— Meeting on Budget

After a long discussion the Committee agreed to hold the budget to a
10% figure over last year's. This means approximately an increase of
$100,000.00. In order to reach this figure we removed over $200,000.00 that
“was. slated to go on a study of that transit line from New Westminster to
Vancouver. The reasoning behind this is that in a recent statement by the

Bureau of Transit the Honourable Jim Lorimer advises us to stay out of it

and that they themselves would do all the studies necessary. The rest of the
reductions from the budget were sent back to staff to whittle it down to an
acceptable size. I am rather pleased about this because I have been advocating
“this now for the last couple of months because I do believe that in the next

few years we will have to work on a limited budget.
