Moved by Alderman Mabbete: Seconded by Alderman Traboulay: "That as recoumended in a report from the Public Works Committee, October ist, 1973, ‘the pedestrian crosswalk at the ‘MeLean ‘Avenue-Pitt River Road intersection be installed as ‘shown on ‘Drawing ‘No. 200-11. THAT this installation be accompanied by a paved walkway, fenced on both sides, from the opening in the School fence to the edge of the travelled road surface; AND THAT the Department of Highways be requested to participate in the. cost of installing a pedestrian traffic light at McLean Avenue and Pitt River Road, rather than at Tyner Street and Pitt River Road, as stated in a resolution passed at the August 20th, 1973 Council meeting. From the Greater Vancouver Regional Hospital District, September 26th, 1973, in reply to a letter from the City dated August 24th, 1973 requesting that Obstetric-Neonatal and Gynaecological Services be included in the propose Coquitlam Hospital, advising in part that while "it is not feasible to suggest that the proposed Coquitlam Hospital be developed as the Obstetric-Neonatsi and Gynaecological referral centre for the South-east portion of the Regional ‘District because the expensive and sophisticated backup services necessary to cope with high risk cases cannot be justified in a community hospital....the Advisory Committee is confident that the present proposals for development provide 'best value’ for the limited funds available". His Worship the Mayor referred to Item No. 10 of the Hospital District's detter, which indicates that the door is not closed entirely to inclusion of the services requested and Alderman Laking commented that at a previous meet- ing with the Minister of Health, he had stated that although the physical . space for that purpose would be provided in construction of the hospital, it. would prot be implemented for such use until warranted by future increased development in the area. .Moved by Alderman Traboulay: Seconded by Alderman Mabbett: That the letter from the Greater Vancouver Regional Hospital District,
