In the past it is quite obvious we have been extremely liberal in the approval
process.for driveway accesses on to arterial sweets and it would appear that most
there with City Approval. '

Over the past few years.on applications received in Engineering from the Building
Department we have been specifying rear access for those lots serviced witha lane
on arterial streets. : no, :

By observation there are definitely some properties that could be requested row to
change their accesses to the rear lane. Probably 40 to 50 properties would fit this
category.

CONCLUSI ON:

li will be extremely difficult to unplement a retro-active policy on access to arterial streets at
this point in the development history of Port Coquitlam. However, if we implement a policy
now for all future developme ent or lot re-development then over time it will tend to correct itself.
Realizing however that the 20% to 30% of single family dwelling lots fronting the arterial street
do not have a rear lane.
