The cost to Coquitlam will be approxima LY $400,000.00 which can be amortized over a 10 ir period. This cost relates to payment for equi ft only and would, of course, pe shareable with ort Coquitlam. I suspect that the annual cost wou.i be about $80,000.00 with approximately 2/3 or $54,000.00 being paid annually by Coquitlam. In speaking with officials of the R.C.M.P. it was in@icated that essentially we have no choice as to providing the equipment as the current equipment could fail in the near future and ouc Detachment would be unable to cope should this happen. I£ we did not approve, it would appear that gome action would be taken to impose the system and the cost. The ceason that approval in principle is being sought at this time is to give the Federal Treasury Board 4 sense of security in approving expenditures for the equipment. It was also indicated to us that the proposed equipment could be installed in our existing facility and that it is not expected additional staff will be required to be added to our ataff complement. Some re-assignment of duties will be required and this may invelve some reclassification. Attached is a "Presentation Handout ~- January 1991" whieh provides some information on what the system will do. aA lot of acronyms are used and for information the description of some are a5 follows: CIIDS Computerized Integrated Information and Dispatch System oce Operational Command Centre CAD Computer Aided Dispatch CPrIc CanaGian Police Information Centre
