advised that a 1/3 increase in premiums would be in the neighbourhood of
some $3000.00 to $4000.00 and the number of small claims that would be
subsequently covered would not, in his opinion, warrant an expenditure
of this size. It was noted that if the City is provsi responsible in
any claim, there is never any question of payment.

That the City call for Tenders for the coverage of the insurance
needs of the City of Port Coquitlam for the next policy year, and that
it be recommended that these Tenders be called every four years.

Carried.

It was unanimously agreed that the Council state, for the record,
that they feel there is no conflict of interest with respect to Alderman
Thompson's association with the firm of Hugh & McKinnon Ltd, the City's
present Insurance Brokerage Service.

Ald. Thompson Alderman Thompson then re-entered the Council Chamber at 8:40 p.m.
