The Feb. 25 match up saw Team Blue look for a win against Team White. It was a good thing for White that this game was of no consequence, because Blue ham- mered them by a score of 9-3. Erie Hull had a good night, scoring three goals for Blue in the winning cause. Blue returned to the ice the following night taking on Team Red. Red opened the scoring at 11:05 on Chris Webb’s eighth goal of the season. Red carried the momentum for most of the period, and at 3:07 they struck again. Shawn Barg set up Sean Casper who scored to improve the Red lead to 2-0. Red continued early in the second when Mike Scarborough scored his 10th of year. But, Red's train de-railed at 7:57 when Blue got on the board. Branden Green set up Brendan Harris who scored to make it 3-1. Brian Todd, Chris Schlenker, and Branden Green each picked up back to back goals and suddenly Blue was in front 4-3 after two. They continued in the third, with Green scoring his second of the game to put his team in front 5-3. Red wasn’t about to let the game get away yet. At 7:17, Chris Webb scored his second of the game and cut the Blue lead to 5-4, setting up an exciting finish to this hockey game, Red was pressing to tie in the final minutes, but left Blue’s Devon Mercer wide open. Teammate Bryan Bandstra fed Mercer who went down the ice and made no mistake beating the Red goaltender. The goal capped off a game in which Blue scored five unanswered _ goals en route to Red’s demise. 6-4. At 9:56, Red went up 2-0 on a goal from Mike Scarborough. Not even a minute later, Casper scored his second of the game, and within a two- minute time frame Red grabbed three goals to take an early, commanding lead. White finally got on the board at 3:51 when Ken Eyjolfson scored his 38th of the season. But Red scored with 39 seconds left in the first to regain their 3-goal lead. The second saw White narrow the score ance again on Dan Matthews’ 21st of the season. What a goal too, as Mat- thews came right in tight an the Red goaltender and put the puck top- shelf. Red simply wouldn’t let White get any closer than within two goals of them. With 1:59 left in the middie frame, Chris Webb scored to make the score 5-2. Barly in third, Sean Capser increased the Red lead to 6-2 and capped off a hat trick with a marker at 14:31 of the final frame. Yet, Team White made a charge at this stage of the game. At 8:16, Ken Eyjolfson scored again to cut the lead to 6-3, At 5:25, Tysen Leblond set up Tyler Noble on the doorstep to make the score 6-4, It appeared as if White was gaining momentum, but at 2:37 it was all over. Red’s Kelly Steel danced around every White defender in their end and scored Red’s seventh goal of the game. Tysen Leblond scored a breakaway goal with 1:32 remaining, but it wasn’t nearly enough, Red played a solid game and came away with a victory by down- ing White 7-5. With the win, Red finished up the regular season with 40 points, 4 behind White and four ahead of Blue. The regular season is now in the books and the teams are gearing up for the playoffs, The championship game takes place March 12 at 7:45 p.m, Player of the Week: Team Red’s Sean Casper, who picked up four goals in Week 20, including a hat trick in his team’s 7-5 win over White Feb. 28. ‘SEAPORT LIMOUSINE LTD. courier service.
