B4 - The Terrace Standard, Wednesday, August 21, 1996 Many contribute to city I WANT TO offer congratulations to River- boat Days saciely president Stephanie Weber and her committee for another jab well done. There were many people who puta lot of effort into making Riverboat Days success- ful, including Joyce Conrad, who organized the parade. Special congratulations goes out to the 1996 Riverboat Days Queen Julia Little and Bud Kirkaldy, last year’s Riverboat Cap- tain, ; Both Bud and Julia come from’ Terrace pioneer families who helped make the city what it is today. It’s. wonderful that these families are still working hard. to make Ter- Tace a better place to live. Here’s hoping Bud and Julia and all the others keep up the hard work. kak Work on the Sande Overpass has been delayed this summer, but the Terrace Beau- lification Socicty is hoping to get the pro- ject back on track. The aim of the project is to fill in the steep bank where the overpass joins Keith Ave, So far the fill has been put in place, and just recently topsoil was dumped and spred. Now the Society hopes to plant shrubs and low maintenance plants. Many groups and individuals have been very generous in their support of the pro- ject. They include Jim Taylor, the rotary club, Dave Dediluke, John Heighington, Otto Grundmann and a number of local businesses. YVONNE MOEN We're hoping ta have the overpass look- ing good in time for next year’s tourist sea- Son. kkkkk I'd like to offer a few comments about the Farmer’s Market, and their current dis- agreement with cily council, over paving the market area, installing water and electri- cal outlets. I find il rather sad that the city council won't give ils full support to the market. [ think the city of Terrace should back them 100 per cent. The Farmer’s Market is a wonderful drawing point for Terrace, and is very suc- cessful, Come on councilors. Let’s give this more thought. With some improvements to the unsighily lot where the market is now lo- cated, it will benefil the whole city. His injuries were severe, He sued the landlord. Marty argued, “Your. honor, I would not have fallen over the side of the landing if a slipped if it were not for the wet and slippery condition of the landing. My career in con- struction is over.
