Badminton playday Caledonia players came up with six victories in. the zone high schools’ first Badminton Playday of the season at Prince Rupert Jan. 16. The girls picked up three single and one double win. Aida Pacleco won ‘A’ flight singles and teamed with Slammi Gill to take the doubles. Mui Luc won ‘B’ singles while Rose Lenser won the ‘C’ event. On the boys side, Wayne Kueckle won ‘B’ flight singles. Peter Yip and Surinder Dhaliwal teamed up to win ‘A’ flight doubles. Thornhill and Skeena junior schools also had athletes at Rupert. ‘Skeena boys beat in Quesnel final Skeena Tsimpsean junior boys made it to the title game at Quesnel’s Corrilieu basketball tournament after winning their first two games. However, they ran into the strong Williams Lake team of Anne Stevenson and wound up second with a 62-38 loss on the Jan. 16 weekend. Skeena started with a 74-21 win over Williams Lake Junior ‘High. Kannin Osei-Tutu and Frank Genaille set the pace with 7 points a piece. In the semi-finals they met the host Corrilieu team and counted a 73-38 victory with Jackie Brown canning 18 points. Against Osei-Tutu paced Skeena with 12 points. His three-game effort earned him a place on the all- Star team. Enroute to Quesnel, Skeena stopped off at Vanderhoof where they scored a 61-28 win over the home team, Anne Stevenson, . The Scores are...
