spring and/or stummer ice. We were refused. We continued aur digcussions during the summer amd fall of 19787, far spring) and Gummer ice for 1988. Again we were refused. Again on similar grounds. Let us address each of these issues in turm and understand their fallacies: ~ Ice Surface Demand Port Coquitlam Figure Skating originally discussed a proposal for somewhere between twenty and thirty hours per week with the Recreation Department. The figure of thirty hours per week corresponds directly with our winter season hours. At no time during the summer or fall discussions were we advised tuat we should contact other ice users to determine their interest. The December 22 rejection letter has, lowever, lec to such action. Gur verbal understanding fram Minor tieckey is that a demand of up to thirty hours per week could be eaxpected. (For purposes of the financial analysis, a conservative figure of 15 hours per week is used). Enthusiasm has also been reported from Faca Ringette ard all of the variaus Oidtimer Associations. (A total of five hours per week is used in the forecast, again, quite conservative). For these groups lize and organize themselves for summer programs, commitment and assurance of facilities is required. & Groups, like figure skating, are run by dedicated volunteers. A copy of this submission has been distributed in advance to each group for their comment and/or criticism. "05
