June 8, 1987 /166 Moved by Alderman Farnwerth: Seconded by Alderman Laking: ‘ THAT WHEREAS the Provincial Testing Stations are no longer in operation; AND WHEREAS it has been proven beyond a reasonable doubt that the automobile is the largest contributor of all pollution in the Lower Maintand; : AND WHEREAS the City of San Francisco has successfully implemented a vehicular testing programme through the private sector; 4 AND WHEREAS a large portion of the automobiles/vehicles do not appear to be under a regular maintenance programme; BE tT THEREFORE RESOLVED THAT the City of Port Coquitlam encourage the Provincial Government to initiate a programme for testing the maintenance of the manufacturer's original quality pollution control standards in British Columbia; AND FURTHER BE IT RESOLVED THAT the City of Port Coquitlam encourage the Provincial Government to initiate a programme for total vehicle testing in British Columbia.
