Alderman Keryluk referred to the election proceedings held on Amarking November 15th, 1975, and mentioned that in the previous Federal election, not only were ball point pens allowed, but any mark of one's own choice on ballots was acceptable and Mayor Campbell advised that such ballots would probably be considered as valid where a recount is required. Alderman Keryluk stated he thought other clear indications for marking ballots should be permitted; however, Alderman Laking advised he had been informed by the City Clerk that the regulation governing the marking of ballots as set forth in the Municipal Act requires that the voter, using the pencil provided in the voting booth, mark the ballots with an "X" where appropriate. gAld. C. The City Engineer advised that the intent is to place a standard crosswalk sign over the lane in which the traffic roves, and this standard sign will be illuminated from inside with provision for a flashing orange light on top.
