VCE comnnaed from pr | In the short term, the NWCF is concentrating on seeking grants and donations, and generating income to establish an endowment that can sustain long-term support for scholarships and educational programs. Further information about donating funds should be directed to Carol E. Mayer, Foundation President. The SWCF has also begun to pursue partnerships and collaborative ventures to encourage the creation of exhibitions, conferences, videos, workshops, and scholarship programs. Specific plans include the organization of an international ceramics conference on the history and recent technical and aesthetic developments in the ceramic medium; the presentation of a conlinent-wide symposium on the ceramics of North America’s aboriginal peoples: the creation of a major exhibition of historical and contemporary porcelain; and the production of a unique educational video which brings together the knowledge of the scientist, the anthropologist, and the potter. The project which launches the Foundation's work is the granting of a 31,000 Jump Start Scholarship to further the education of ceramics students or emerging ceramics artists. The funds have been donated by the Jump Start Scholarship Society for allocation by The North-West Ceramics Foundation each spring over three years. See page 4 for details.
