wae Local hostelry changes over THE TERRACE INN'’s transformation is now complete and it has been accorded membership in the Best Western organization. That came after owner John Georgilas poured more than $1.5 million into renovations over the last two years. The work included an exterior facelift, extensive room renovations, paving of the parking lot, and construction of an-ejght-person jacuzzi and an exercise room, “I’s been pretly extensive renovations to meet their standards,” said general manager Dullss Kleamyck. She said joining the non-profit association — which has i144 hotels in Canada and 3,800 worldwide — plugs the Terrace Inn into a substantial marketing network. The hotel has also hired George Troeber, a fully trained European chef from Austria, and changes to the menv arc planned. . The signs on the building will likely change around the end of August, Kleamyck added, but staff should be ans- weriag the phones as ‘‘Best Western Terrace Inn’’-within two weeks. It’s a big change for the hotel from three years ago, when it was run into bankruptcy by former owner Amarjit Sidhu, leaving a long list of local suppliers with unpaid bills. Georgilas, who bad sold the hotel to Sidhu, regained con- tro] of the hotel in bankruptcy proceedings in 1995 and be- gan the long process of improvements and restoring its credibility.
