They moved back home to Canada ANNE PAYNE became a vendor at the Skeena Valley Farmers Market about seven years ago, when she decided to sell her hand woven lawn chairs, She learned the craft from a friend in Ontario. Anne makes most of her chairs on order since she says people prefer to choose their own colours. The hand woven cord she uses makes a good sturdy chair, Ame suggests bringing the chairs in out of the weather to protect them from wearing and fading. One of Anne's customers says she has taken the chairs to the car wash and cleaned them with the high pressure water hose. Anne also sells hand-made jewelry and fresh muffins. And you'll usually see some hand knit sweaters at her table, made by her mother- in-law. But it’s socializing as much as selling that brings Anne to the market. For in- stance last summer Anne met Richard Dysart, who played the ole of "McKenzie’ on L.A. Law. When she mentioned that he looked familiar Richard Dysart introduced himself. Anne hasn’t always lived in Terrace, She moved here in 1977 with her husband Gil. They had lived in Michigan for 10 years prior to moving to Terrace. Anne and Gil were both bom and raised in Peter- borough, Ontario. That is where they met, married and had their first two children, Dani and Tom. Their third child Susan, was bom in Michigan. The Paynes always planned to move back to Canada and wanted to make that transition while their children were young enough to re-adjust and make Cana- da their home again. A holiday visit to Annc’s sister in Kitimat provided the impetus for the move. Gil applied for work at Al-. can while on holidays, and got a job right away. Gil is a hunter and this area appealed to his out- doorsy nature. Gil worked at Alcan for two years and then trans- ferred to Skeena Sawmills. Anne worked as a letter carrier for Canada Post for 11 years. In spite of the hazards of the job, such as vicious dogs, Anne enjoyed her job. Once she says she was bitten twice in the same day. Ann now works for Nar- burd R.V. and enjoys meet- ing the tourists her job brings her in contact wilh. kkk Just a reminder now, for Skeena honour roll results SKEENA SECONDARY recently released the resulis of its honowr roll for the 4th term. [ must ask people again, ‘Please do not bring your dogs to the market.” We cannot have dogs near prepared food, produce and bedding plants etc, Do not bring dogs to the market, even on a leash, Thank you, Thank You Dear Sir: I would like to thank the two people who took the time to record the licence number of the vehicle that caused $1,000 damage to my car while it was parked in the Ter- race Co-op parking lot on June 20. Had it not been for the thoughtfulness of these two per- sons, another idiot would have been permitted to continue his or her total disregard for the property of others. Hope- fully others will follow their lead, and report incidents such as this, Thanks to these good samaritans. Dear Sir: Verna Crawford We would like to take this opportunity to say a special thank you to the City of Terrace for once again supporting our annual Red Shield Appeal. ; To all of those who gave so generously of their time and finances, please accept our sincere thanks. Your continued support helps us to help others. May God bless you in your giving.
