‘‘Baby, The Lost
Legend’.

Two people who cared
became parents to a baby
dinosaur and looked after
the physical and emo-
tional needs of Baby,

In Terrace, Claire Ren-
nie, who presently works
at the Terrace Veterinary
Medical Centre located on
Park “Avenue, became a
proxy Mom to a little pup-
py rejected by her natural
mother.

‘She was no more than
a few hours old when I
started feeding Baby with
a regular milk bottle for
infants,’’ said Rennie.

It’s really changed my

life a lot. No matter where
lam, I have to come home
on time for her feedings,”
said Rennie. ‘‘The puppy
is too little to take
anywhere yet.”’

Rennie added that Baby
does go to work with her,
however. Coffee breaks
are spent looking after
Baby’s needs. ‘It’s almost
like having a child,”’ Ren-
nie noted. I’ve lost my
freedom. With a shy smile
she quickly adds, like any
proud parent Should, . ‘it’s
worth it! <« “

At three weeks old,
Baby drinks 22 ounces of
milk formula. Rennie said
that she mixed a portion
of condensed milk with an
equal amount of water
and watched Baby gain a
few ounces every day.

‘I'm really excited
about next week,’ said
Rennie. ‘‘I’m_ starting
Baby on pablum with the
addition of an egg yolk
blended’. with the
pablum.’”? Rennie added
that Baby is now sleeping
through the night.

The puppy will eventu-
ally have to be given away
to someone who will love
Baby just as much as Ren-
nie has. ‘I’m not looking
forward to being
separated from Baby. I
really can’t keep her,”’

said Rennie. She is going |

to be a large dog and it’s
already hard enough to
find an apartment with a
couple of cats and a dog,
besides Baby.

Rennie added that she
felt it wouldn’t be fair to
Baby to be confined to the
city. She will need to run
and play. Beginning in the
new year, Rennie will
desperately search for a
home for Baby, The
separation will be hard
since Baby thinks of Ren-
nie as her natural Mother.
