THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM TO: Jim Maitland Date: July 16, 1990 City Treasurer FROM: Bill Wiseman Deputy Treasurer-Finance SUBJECT: Garbage, Ashes, Refuse, and other discarded matter collection Bylaw No. 1426, Amendments RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that the Municipal Clerk be instructed to prepare a Bylaw to amend Bylaw No 1426, "A Bylaw to establish and maintain a system for the collection, removal and disposal of garbage, ashes, refuse, and other noxious, offensive, unwholesome and discarded matter", as follows: 1. Section 10. (b) be amended by inserting the following wording to precede the existing wording: "Effective 120 calendar days from the date of issuance of engineering charges for a building permit to construct improvements which will be serviced under the provisions of this bylaw, the applicant or user shall pay in advance the monthly user rates as prescribed in Section 10. (a), prorated to a daily equivalent, for the balance of the year in which the billing period starts. Where a person or his premises have been permitted a waiver of the charges under the provisions of Section 10. (d) but latter requests that services be provided the applicant shall pay the monthly user rates as prescribed in Section 10. (a), prorated to a daily equivalent, for the balance of the year in which the billing period starts. At the end of this billing period" 2. Section 10 (c) be amended by inserting the following wording to precede the existing wording: "Where the Collector has placed the said special charge on the real-property tax roll for collection," And it is recommended that this Bylaw shall come into force and effect on the first day of September, A.D. 1990.
