Dear Mr. Freeman:

Re: Biennial Election System

At a meeting held 1986-01-28 the Board of School Trustees of S.D.
No. 43 (Coquitlam) ratified that they would be prepared to enter
into biennial elections with the City of Port Coquitlam, commencing -

immediately.

This would mean that the present incumbent, Mr. Peter Dent, would”
be re-elected for only a one-year term, and then in the subsequent
year, the two trustee representatives from Port Coquitlam would both

be up for election.

Should Council wish to proceed with the biennial election system,
please let me know so that I may seek approval from the Minister. -
of Education to establish biennial elections.
