BLOCK PARENT PROGRAM To reduce or prevent incidents of child molesting and sexually related offences involving children through cocmunity participation. It involves a large portion of the community for the first time in an organized support of a Crime Prevention Program. Description: Interested adults submit a duplicate spplication to an Area Co-ordinator who then aubmite these to C.P.U. for approval as Block Parents. Rejections are based on evidence of drug abuse, alcoho! abuse, or any sex offencea by any member of the houeehold involved. C.P.U. uses C.P.I.C. and iocal cards for this information. One copy of approved application held by C.P.U. and the other returned to the Area Co-ordinator who holds it on tile and issues the Block Parent sign to the applicant. Upon a Block Parent resignation, sign is returned to Co-ordinator, her copy of application returned to C.P.U. and both coples are destroyed. BLOCK PARENT ADVISCRY ObBjective(s) (a) To promote the continued life of the Block Parent Program by sending a pereonalized form letter each month to every Block Parent. (b) To give each Block Parent a sense of positive ascociation with their police department. (c) To quash the usual “horror story” rumours that circulate by issuing real information. (2) To allow Block Parente to prevent possible continued attacks, etc., by providing them with information to assist police in early apprehension of offenders. A wonthly letter will be published by C.P.U. and sent to each Block Parent. It will contain simple, factual information about any suspects that investigatora feel might be spotted by Block Parents (see attach #1). investigators will complete a form (see attach #2) to publish desired 28 y information.
