Alds.Keryluk, Traboulay & Laking re open- ing ceremonies-, Alderman: Keryluk stated he felt the recently~held official opening ceremonies for the new Kinsmen Participark staged by the City were excellent, and he referred particularly to the eā€œforts made by Alderman Participark Ranger in that regard. Aldermen Traboulay and Laking also expressed commendation for the City's part in that event. Ald. Thompson Alderman Thompson stated his concern at the tree-cutting being re tree-cutt- ing along City; undertaken along waterways in the City, and he suggested that the wacetways Administration staff investigate some means of curtailing this practice, possibly by forwarding an appeal to the owners of such properties that they refrain from so doing. Aid.Mabbett re! downtown street -lighting study,etc. Alderman Mabbett referred to the downtown streetlighting study, and advised that the sketch plans for Phase 1 probably will not be available from the Consultant for a few weeks. Alderman Mabbett further advised that the present level of lighting on Shaughnessy Street is .7' candles, which is below the standard of 2.0' candles, and he suggested that members of Council make an on-site inspection of the new lighting on Austin Avenue East of Blue Mountain Road in the District of Coquitlam, which has the standard level of 2.0' candles. Alderman Mabbett then stated his intention of stressing the importance of allocating monies in the budget for implementing a phased upgrading programme of the downtown streetlighting. Ald.Mabbett re Dawson Con- struction site Shaughnessy & | Lincoln Ave. : Alderman Mabbett advised he had noticed that the Dawson Construction property at Shaughnessy Street and Lincoln Avenue is in a disgraceful condition, and stated he was particularly concerned about this situation since the site is located adjacent to a residential area.
