Caledo- nia Science Club’ team returned to Terrace Sunday - victorious! by Betty Barton The students had competed in the University of British Cotum- bia 14th annual Physics Olym- pics and finished in first place, beating 56 schools from across the province. The seven team members included Grade 12 students Brian Anderson, Linda Cuddeford; ‘Nathan Wilkerson, Amritpal Gill and Grade 11 stu- dent David George. . Alternates were Grade'11 students Wayne =. ~~? Weidner. and David Wolfe. | : -4 Teacher-sponsor Allen Wootton proudly explained that the students had competed in seven ase events and did well in all of them. This was Wootton’s second year as a teacher-sponsor. He had been involved with the UBC Physics Olympics during its in- ception in 1977, when he was in- structing in the Physics Depart- ment at UBC. This year, the students an- swered Fermi questions like “how many quills are found on a porcupine?” and ‘chow many 7 water droplets are there in Bur- > rard Inlet?”’.
