CHERRY THE CHALKBRUSH One crisp morning I was just minding my own business when ‘‘snatch’’, I was grabbed by a girl | named Jillian. I was only a Grade one’ chalkbrush so I wasn’t very smart. (It was also the start of the year so I hadn’t erased very many words.) Suddenly she started banging me against the . brick wall. I kept saying “Stop it, stop it,’’ but she kept banging harder. Finally I furiously bit her on the hand. She screamed and suddenly dropped me in the dirty chalkbrush bucket. | was all bruised and scraped up. On the streets we saw the chalkmen writing so we started erasing. The chatkmen could write faster than we could erase, They kept writing, _ we kept erasing. Finally they ran out of chalk, and the buildings were clean. We all went home. He lived in a school in ‘Terrace, One gloomy day the - teacher said, ‘* There will be a spelling bee today’’. Then Sam said, ‘‘Yipeee! Dinner!’ A spelling bee would mean that Sam would have lots of chalk to eat. After school all the chalkbrushes decided since it was the Christmas holiday they would go on an exciting adventure. They packed. The things they packed were; paper, a boat, a piece of chalk each (food). They found a little creek and ‘started sailing down it. While they sailed sud- denly one of the chalk- said, ‘'Land OHOY!’’. Just then a Ter- race District truck came and was going to suck the You don’t have to chalkbrushes up! Sam im- mediately jumped out of the ship. As he watched in horror; all the chalk- brushes were sucked up! Five hours after Sam. found himself on. the island. At that moment a dog came along and said, “Hi, what’s your name?’’ Sam = said, ‘‘Sam. What’s yours?’’ . *““Bill”’ said the dog. “So Bill what are you doing here?’’ asked Sam. . Seeing ‘if you need help,’’ answered Bill; “As a matter a fact 1 ~do,’”’ said Sam. “What kind of help?” ~ said Bill. “Could you please bring me to the school?’’ asked Sam. “Sure,”” said Bill,- then -- Sam jumped onto Bill's back. When Bill got to the other side of the road. from the school he said, ‘‘We are going to cross the road so hold on!”’ As Bill crossed: the road suddenly acar came speeding at them! So Bill jumped out of the way and Sam fell off. Sam was so sad he thought that Bill had lost. him. Then suddenly the dog came back with his master, a young boy. School: Cassie Hall Elementary DUSTY DAN’S LAST ADVENTURE. On Monday, Jan. 12 the children in room 17 were bored and tired. I, Dusty Dan, was sit- ting on the chatk ledge minding my own business — when. Terry and Janet started fighting over me. They both wanted to clear the chalkboard to get a ‘candy, . Janet almost. had me . when. Terry made a wild pull at me. and I flew. _ through the air. . I had landed behind the book- shelf. Neither Janet or Terry knew where-I had landed so they . started fighting over Chalky Chuck. Behind the bookshelf it was very dusty and there were many spiders. 1 was very scared! My little brain was working over- time to solve the problem but I couldn’t think of a solution. I stayed behind the bookshelf until one night: the janitor was ‘cleaning under the shelf and found “me. She thought I was too dirty so she threw me into the. garbage. Now [I rest peacefully in the dump. R.LP. "One day as 1, Inspector Chalkbrush was walking to my headquarters I[ - noticed that the street looked rather yellow and . his side. then I saw it. _ There was my partner Major Shammy lying on- the street with a bullet i in: As I picked him up and took him to headquarters I was ambushed by four men catrying sub machine guns. I tried to run but . one shot hit me in the arm. Chalk sprayed everywhere - as I tried: to crawl under their fire. Just then my hopes picked up, Five police cars raced: up to the place of the firing and 10 ‘ policemen stepped out and . started to fire at the men. ‘When the fight was just _about over I saw it, all 10 policemen ran out of ammunition and sur- rendered. . Adig yan pulled up and all the policemen: climbed in at-gun point. When it was. my turn I hesitated for a moment hoping, for somebody to come to the rescue but nobody did 50 I ‘just’ hopped in the van hoping that I would sur- vive. what they might be . thinking to do to me, . Just then the 10. policemen pulled out mini hand guns and held up the van. I stepped out and — took out Major Shammy and set him on the ground and tried to pull the bullet out, When we got to head-. quarters I found out that - ‘the four men were killers, As I was walking home that night I felt so tired because of the day's events I could have flop- ped on to my bed and gone to sleep in two seconds. School: Clarence Michiel Elementary RCMP Report The Terrace RCMP are investigating a break and enter at the Terrace Flying Club. - - The break and enter oc- curred sometime during the. last five days and resulted in many house- hold items being stolen. *_* *& On Monday, March 16 at approximately 3:58 a.m. Northern Motorcycle located on. the corner of Greig and Atwood was broken into. The Terrace RCMP in- ‘ spected the building, but no theft was reported. RCMP are continuing - to investigate and have no suspects at this time. On Thursday, March 12 the Terrace RCMP ar- rested a 21 year old man. and a 19 year old man asa result of a drug investiga- tion. The two men have been charged with possession of a narcotic for the purpose of trafficking. RCMP seized a total of 71 mari- juana joints.
