Page 82 - Terrace Standard, Wednesday, May 27, 1992 47 YEARS LATER Mother and child reunion After a 47-year separation, Marie Fortin and her daughter Victoria Milton were re-united last September. Marie was living in Prince George at the time with ber youngest son Ron. Her eldest daughter Laara Lenard and her eldest son Wayne were also in Prince George. However, Laara was Marie’s eldest daughter. In Saskatchewan on July 11, 1944, Marie gave birth to a daughter Victoria, and decided to give ber up since Marie felt she was too young to raise a child. Maric saw her daughter once more, on Victoria’s first birthday, and moved from Saskatchewan in 1946, When Marie decided to contact Victoria she had no idea of how to go about finding her, or whether Victoria would want to see her. Finally, Marie contacted Child Find, a provincial government run service which helps adopted children and their birth parents contact each other, Before long, Marie received a letter stating Victoria had been found.
