The Chamber requested your municipality to set aside in its upcoming budget the sum of $14,310.00 to cover the cost of a proposed fee for service agree- ment between the municipality and this Chamber. As you are aware, your municipal council resolved to refer the Chamber's request to your committee for further consideration. Since this matter was referred to your committee, a number of circumstances have developed which require the Chamber of Commerce to amend the nature of its proposal to your municipality, and accordingly, we are writing to advise you of these changes. The centrepiece of the Chamber's proposal to your municipality and the municipalities of Coquitlam and Port Moody was the estab- lishment of a permanent tourist information booth and travellers' rest area adjacent to the Trans-Canada Highway in the area of the Port Mann Bridge. The total projected cost of this project was approximately $30,000.00 and of the $14,310.00 requested of your municipality, $5,115.00 was attributable to the cost of establishing this project. It has become apparent to the Chamber that the summer tourist season is now too clase upon us to permit us to complete this project in its proposed form in time for this season. As a consequence, the Chamber now proposes to proceed with a less ambitious and less costly temporary tourist information facility at this time, and to pursue the establishment of the originally proposed facility along different avenues and on an extended time frame. ceed 25
