I note in the local press that you and your Council have
recently expressed concern over the substantial increase in
the annual operating budget adopted by the Board of School
District No. 43.

The members of Port Moody Council are equally concerned and
the matter of education costs was discussed by Council on
January 9, 1978, and again on March 6, 1978.

At the March 6th meeting of Council the following resolution
was passed unanimously:

"That a meeting be arranged with the School Board to discuss
educational budgets and to discuss educational fiscal
responsibility."

My purpose in writing you at this time is to ascertain
whether you and the members of your Council would wish to
participate in a joint meeting with the School Board, to
discuss educational budgets and fiscal responsibility.
