- EX vor. WOE ; Pr MAR - 5 1975 TO: Mayor and Council DATE: March 2, 1973 FROM: L.D. Pollock City Administrator 1. Insurance Broker Mr. Barry Cliff was appointed broker for the City's group insurance and medical plan about two years ago and has done a considerable amount of work for us on our group insurance schemes. He has now changed firms and is presently with J.T. O'Bryan Ltd. He has requested that we amend the appointment to include the name of J.f. O'Bryan Ltd. in view of the fact that there are commissions involved. The appointment is still appropriate for the group insurance business as I would like to get Mr. Cliff to review our coverage in the light of the new unemployment insurance regulations and in addition the Union have made requests for an alteration in benefits and I would like to have Mr. Cliff comment on these requests. There is no retainer or fee attached to this appointment. I would recommend that Mr. Barry Cliff of J.T. O'Bryan Ltd. be appointed as broker for the City's group insurance coverage for the year 1973. 2. Noise Level Meters At the last meeting of Council I was asked to confirm the price of sound level meters in connection with the proposed noise pollution by-law. I have asked the newly appointed Vector Control Officer, Mr. Art Guite to review the type of equipment needed and make a recommendation to me in this regard. Mr. Guite does not officially start with the Simon Fraser Health Unit until March 19th however he has consented to investigate this matter for me and I expect I will have a reply for the next meeting of Council.
