Thornhill will have a Recreation Commission if the residents of the area want ene but, though many people have stated they are interested and are-willing to help, only two have agreed to serve on the executive. A minimum of 10 people will be required as officers and committee chairmen if the commission is to be of any benefit to the community in organizing recreational. activities, With the advent of shorter working hours, increased leisure time con be used. for a variety of desirable and béneficial activities, A Recreation Commission with the aid, both financially and advisory, offered by the Com- munity Programs Branch of the Department of Education, could provide a variety of activities for all the residents of the area. A list of these might include organized summer or winter sports, a children's playground program, drama, music, community social events, adult education or leader- ship training. Almost any activity might be. organized if sufficient interest was shown. If you are willing to assist in either an executive role or aS a committee member,. please call me at VI 3-5060.
