The Vocational Rehabilita- tion Consultant provides a Editor’s Note: Local 1-85 Financial Secretary Maurice Corbeil attended the opening _ of the new WCB branch office _ int Nanaimo and had the op- _ porunity to discuss with Mr. _ Cyril White, WCB chairman, |> bis views on the branch office. The following letter contains bis opinions. The Editor: The new office in Nanaimo - will provide only office space _ for safety inspectors and re- habilitation. I pointed out to Mr. White that this was long over-due; under the old sys- _ tem of operating the W.C.B. where everything had to be one in Vancouver was a dis- advantage to any injured _ workmen living outside of ; Vancouver. | rc I also pointed out to him _ that in appeal cases, injured ) workmen living outside of | greater Vancouver are also at _, adisadvantage because at the CORBEIL REQUESTS TRAVELLING REVIEW BOARD present time, the three-mem- ber Board of Review who deal with appeal of claims, sit only in Vancouver and I suggested to Mr. White that there should be a travelling Board of Re- view so that claimants could be interviewed directly by the Board, rather than the present system of field representatives taking down information to be given to the Board of Review in type. Mr. White told me that he would consider the setting up of a travelling board of ap- peal. With all due respect to the field representatives it is my opinion that the three members of the Board who make the final decision on the claim, should all be present when the claimant is being in- terviewed. Therefore, I hope that Mr. White will see fit to set up a travelling Board in - the near future. M. J. CORBEIL, Financial Secretary moe ‘A MAKE GUYS N > 45% Ls) NY SS \ >
