Janna Taylor, Parks & Recreation Director SUBJECT: Hockey School RECOMMENDATION =: That the McMeekan Hockey School be permitted to run a school from August 26th to 3lst, 1985, 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the old arena. BACKGROUND & COMMENTS : The Parks & Recreation Committee have received a second request from Mr. McMeekan to run a hockey school at the start of the ice season in 1985. The Committee, on the first request, turned Mr. McMeekan down for August, 1984, because the other user groups were not pre- pared to utilize many of the hours when the school was not in operation. However, at the last ice allocation meeting, there were assurances from the ice users that they would utilize the other hours. Based on these assumptions, the following expenditures and revenues are outlined: Operating Costs: Extra hydro for 3 weeks $1,700.00 ‘Staff for 3 weeks 6,170.00 Total cost for 3 weeks $7,870.00 It should be noted that we have skeleton staff during the summer months in the arena and, therefore, we will have to bring the staff from the parks back to the arena three weeks earlier. Estimated revenues for the 3 weeks: Hockey School $1,550.00 (They pay commercial rate. Minor Groups $4,500.00 (Based on 150 hours.) Commercial Groups $2,064.00 (Based on 30 hours over 3 weeks.)
