June 5th, 1978. From the City Clerk, June 5th, 1978 advising of the request from Mayor J.M. Campbell that Alderman G.R. Laking, Chairman of the Council City Clerk, ; June 5/78 re Meeting for June 5th, 1978 to bring the subject of burning permits back Burning Permits to Council for further consideration as to whether or not burning permits should be granted in the following instances: 1775 Lougheed Highway, Towmhouse development of Walter Szafranski — burning would commence immediately; 1659/75 Pitt River Road, 33 lot subdivision of Rick Ricard ~ burning. would commence in the near future; and the east side of the 3500 block Cedar Drive, 36 lot subdivision of Wayne Knechtel — burning would commence approximately mid-July. Moved by Alderman Keryluk: Seconded by Alderman Mabbett: That open air burning be allowed on a trial basis for: 1. 1775 Lougheed Highway, Townhouse development of Mr. Walter Szafranski; 1659/75 Pitt River Road, 33 lot subdivision of Rick Ricard; Hast side of the 3500 block Cedar Drive, 36 lot subdivison of Wayne Knechtel. Alderman Ranger voted against the resolution. Prior to passage of the foregoing resolution Alderman Ranger spoke against granting burning permits in the summer weather. Alderman Mabbett stated that with proper equipment burning could be carried out without causing problems. Alderman Ranger then giviz Notice of a Motion he intended to present Ald. Ranger re Notice of Motion at the June 12th, 1978 Council meeting opposing the recent Provincial ~ Prov. proposal on Voting (re- proposal that voting on rezoning be changed from a two-thirds majority zoning) to a simple majority. Alderman Keryluk advised the Community Development Committee had a Ald. Keryluk re Comm. Dev. meeting with the Industrial Association on June lst, 1978 and the notes Comm. Mtg. with Industrial Assoc. on the meeting have been circulated.
