June 9th, 1972, From: The Environmental Sub-Committee of the Health Committee Metro Motors Property ~ Maple Creek: -The Environmental Sub-Committee discussed the problem of construction which been carried out by Metro Motors in the area of Maple Creek. The City Engineer reported that this firm undertook to fill portions of the creek area and instal a culvert on the creek in order to provide driveway access on their property. The fouling and the: restriction of the ditch was brought to the attention of the firm by a member of the Public Works Department and subsequently a stop-work order was issued to prevent further construction. The engineering Department feel that the fill utilized on the site is in-~ ~ gdequate and the culvert construction, in addition to being detrimental to the stream “flow, is inadequate in size to handle the anticipated volume of water that can flow in this stream. As the action of the owner is in contravention of the Waterways Protection By-law, the Committee recommend: 1. That. the owner be notified to remove the culvert forthwith; 2.. That the owner contact the City Engineer immediately and work out details of action required to restore the original condition of the creek and provide a suitable access to meet the needs of Metro Motors; and in addition, review the overall requirements of this complex with a view to determining the extent of the development planned; 3. The Committee is not recommending that charges be laid at this time, provided that co-operation is received. HEA eA TO Sn NG IAA ES EN MELA PN Eo big Cth te
