= = - AMONGT THE SIGHTS; not to be missed inc "Quito is Santo Dom- > ingo, church the interior walls of which are bedecked in gold — ; tl a glittering memory for Kim. from BI Homeward Bound over the world. Definitely a New Year to remember. So now, here I am at the outset of 1991, I’ve finished my. obligation to Crossroads, but I’ve agreed to stay on at the , university until the end of January. They are short of teachers and I really enjoy my work here, Teaching English was a great : placement and my students and co-workers super cool. I’m. really going to miss it. Getting ready to come home is taking as much preparation as it did to go overseas, I’m scrambling as I feet I still have so - much to do and see. My biggest upcoming plan is to go to the jungle with a :: Fellow Crossroader who has joined me from St. Vincent. I Teally can't wait to go — snakes and all! I’ve also been buying recuerdos (souvenirs) like crazy, I just want to take as much of Ecuador home as possible. And now the countdown begins. Wow, only four weeks *til Pm back on Canadian soil, or snow as the case might be. Br- irr! ; It’s a really strange feeling to be wanting to stay here and yet wanting to get back home. Another part of the cross- cultural experierice, I guess. 7 It’s really been wonderful. I've learned to appreciate every day and try to get the most out of my time in Ecuador. Next _ comes re-entry into Canadian culture which I am told can be just as scary as entering a third world culture. Crossroads has told me to warn you I may be a little dif- : "ficult to live with at first. Who, me?- guess time will tell.
