Board holds line on indemnity TERRACE-- Trustees on the board of School’ District 88 have voted not to raise their indemnity for the 1990-91 school year, but trustees who travel outside the district on approved board business will be compensated $115 per day, _ The board voted to retain last year’s indemnity rates on a motion by trustee Val Napoloen, who led a committee that examined the issue. Napoloen reported that the committee found "rates vary wildl- y, and what boards are doing vary wildly" in school districts across Canada. The indemnity rate, for example, went from $3,000 in one . district to $40,000 in another. Local trustees will again receive _ $5,000 year combined taxable and non-taxable indemnity, with the board vice-chairman getting $6,250 and the chairman $7,500. Napotoen said that to put "a clear annual process in place", the in- demnity and per diem rates should the November board meeting, before the civic election date. The board passed the motion unanimously. Other members of the trustee indemnity committee were trustee Wayne Braid, Dave Maroney and district secretary- treasurer Barry Piersdorff.
