THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM COUNC AUG 16 1982 MEMORANDUM TO: B. Kirk, July 21, 1982 City Administrator FROM; F.E. Peters., P. Eng.-, City Engineer SUBJECT: Local Improvement Project = Public Works Committee, July 20th, 1982: RECOMMENDATION: That the work of Local Improvement requested by petitioners on the 3900 block of Sefton Street be approved by Council. BACKGROUND AND COMMENTS: In February of this year I reported to Council on two Local Improvement projects for which petitions had been received in 1981. The two projects were storm sewer and pavement on St. Anne Street at an estimated cost of $434,000 and for paving on the 3900 block Sefton Street which was estimated.to cost $87,000. A copy of the earlier report to Council is attached. , Council set aside the report at the time in order to allow changes to be made to the Local Improvement Bylaw. These changes have now been made and new rates set for the property owners' share. In the meantime, economic circumstances have changed and the Public Works Committee no longer feels that the City is able to afford its share of the St. Anne project. Therefore, the current recommendation is to go with the project on Sefton Street at an estimated cost of $87,000 with approximately $14,400 recovered from the property owners. ~ In addition to the two above mentioned Local Improvement requests, there are five other outstanding requests on a list maintained by the City Clerk. of these, three are dated in 1971. These three include the 3700 block Killarney Street, the lane south of the 1600 block Prairie Avenue, and the 1900 block Salisbury Avenue. These have been rejected in the past by the Public Works Committee for various reasons and it would not seem appropriate to bring them forward at this 15
