Bike-a-thon through

Telkwa pass

THE SECOND anoual Telkwa Pass bike-a-thon and
hike-a-thon is ready to hit the trail on Aug. 19. The
irck will take cyclists through 21 kilometres of beau-
liful mountain passes.

Last year, the event drew about 50 participants,
this year 100 are expected. The trek starts on the Tel-
kwa side of the mountains and makes its way west-
ward A barbeque will greet finishers.

Soccer School starts up

next week

REGISTRATION [8 taking place now for the sec-
ond Goalgetters Credit Union Soccer School of the
summer, which takes place next week.

The school is taking children aged 5-16, and is

DAVE SAUNDERS took home the title of King of
the YXT on July 29, in the car section of the drag
races.

Terrace wasn't shut out in the event though. Jim
Braid won in the bikes, and Mike McNiece won in
the car component of the gamblers.

Hazelton’s Matt Marshalt was king of the sleds.
Sunday's drags were rained out.

Millions of Nintendo

systems in homes

NINTENDO video games are more popular than
ever, according to market trends.

Nineteen of the top 20 selling console vidco
games come from the Nintendo 64 and Game Boy
colour systems. Perfect Dark, a Nintendo 64 game,
leads the way.

In Canada, there are 1.7 million Nintendo 64
systems in househelds, and 1.1 million Game Boy
Colour handheld systems.

According to findings by ACNielsen Canada’s
recently launched Canadian Video Game Market
Tracker, Nintendo owns 77 per cent of the market
dollar share of the total video game industry in Ca-
nada,

Heart and Stroke golf

scramble on weekend
GOLFERS WILL be tecing up for a good cause on
the weekend at the Skeena Valley Golf and Country
Club.

It’s the third annual Gert Grundmann memorial
golf tournament where proceeds will go towards the
Heart and Stroke Foundation. The tournament will
run on Sunday.

The club has held a tournament every year for
10 years for heart and stroke research and awareness.

The fee is $50, which covers green fees as well
as a meal. Participants will receive a $25 tax exemp-
tion, since it’s a charity event. For more information
