SEE between jazz and North African music Anagram, a Vancouver-based jazz _H and Sokoun Trio, a Montreal-based ensemble that hails from North Africa, will spend two days blending their repertoires to create new sounds. The outcome of this creative process will be two concerts. First, they will perform on the CBC Radio-Canada outdoor stage, on Hamilton Street, as part of the ‘Boulevard du Pacifique” broadcast, on Thursday, June 20", 2013, between 3:30 pm and 5 pm. The next day, Friday June 21°, 2013, the two groups will come together again as part of the third season of the Féte de la Musique now known as “Make Music Vancouver ? where they will premiere a full concert in the streets of Gastown. Based in Gibson, British Columbia, Anagram has performed in many festivals, such as the ‘Vancouver International Jazz Festival, the Pender Harbour Jazz Festival, and the Gibsons Jazz Festival... tonamejusta few. The group is composed of Anna Lumiere, the pianist of the group, (also known as the leader of the very popular musical group MIMOSA), and Graham Ord, who accompanies the group on saxophone, along with Bernie Arai on drums. The Anagram trio becomes a quartet whenever it is accompanied by Adam Robert Thomas, who is an exceptional bass player. It was during the musical comedy Sherazade that Mohamed Masmoudi (oud), Zied Ben Amor (violin/voice) and Joseph Khoury (percussion) met.
