Tn response to Mr. Maitiand’s letter concerning the Fraser Vallcy Regional Library proposed 1993 budget. the
following matenal is provided:

The allowance for a wage increase for 1993 is 3%.

Additional Staff Hours

(a) Four part time Public Service Librarian positions totalling .8 FTE (28 hours) to address the mot
urgent needs for increases in reference /information service.

Catalogue Librarian position of .6 FTE (21 hours) to address increased workload from matcrials
budget and video collection.

(c) Four part iime circulation staff positions totalling 13 FTE (45.5 hours) to address most pressing
needs [rom increases in circulation.

(d) Acquisitions Clerk - .2 FTE (7 bours) to address increased workload from increased materials

budget.

(e) Printer - .2 FTE (7 hours) - increased demand both for in-house matenais and publicity.

Replacement Hours

Reflecting actual budget cxperience of recent years. Average replacemcnt at approamatcly 75%.

Additional replacement for librarians; continuing program started in 1990. Prior to that date librarians were
oot replaced.

Employer Expense

Increase ia Employer's sharc of benefits, especially U.LC. inercascs. There is no increase in Employer's
percent share of bencfits.

Janitorial Cost

53% of increase is for floor maintenance not built into budget in previous ycars. This budget item also
includes all handyman services for Headquarters. Contract tendercd in 1990 up for renegotiation in 15
