CLM Recommendation: Whereas: Great Canadian Participaction Challenge is a one day inter-city fitness project aimed at motivating residents in any physical activity that makes your heart beat faster for fifteen continuous minutes, Be It Resolved: That the City encourages its citizens to take part. by declaring May 29th, 1985, as "Great Canadian Participaction Challenge Day". Hacthuyboterd & sist pe The City of Labrador has challenged the City of Port Coquitlam to get as many of the residents to participate in fifteen minutes of continuous fitness activity on May 29th. Port Coquitlam has organized many events and also done an extensive advertising campaign to get each resident in Port Coquitlam to become involved. Telephone lines will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. at City Halil (941-5411) for people to telephone in to report that they have participated in fifteen minutes of continuous physical acti- vity. Lorraine Sabyan of the Parks & Recreation Department has been coordinating the event. The schools will be organizing runs, jogs or skipping programs for the lunch hour. The sport organizations will report in their numbers for that day and this will include games and practices. Carnoustie Racquet Club will be helping with all their fitness classes (they will be free for that day). The Parks & Recreation Department will be sponsoring two major events, the FITNESS BASH at 7:00 p.m. in the arena. Mayor and Council will be in attend- ance at this event.
