Moved by Alderman Traboulay: Seconded by Alderman Keryluk: That the establishment of a Regional Economic Development Body as a function of the Greater Vancouver Regional District be not approved at this time. 1 Carried. Mayor Laking and Alderman Wright voted against the the resolution. Prior to passage of the foregoing resolution Alderman Traboulay expressed concern as to the necessity of establishing a Regional Economic Development Body in the Greater Vancouver Regional District. Alderman Wright advised he was in favour of setting up this Body and expressed his support. Alderman Mabbett referred to the British Columbia Development Corporation and expressed concern regarding setting up another similar organization in the G.V.R.D. Alderman Keryluk expressed concern regarding the G.V.R.D. governing over-all and stated in his opinion another level of government is not required. Mayor Laking gave an explanation of the necessity for establishing a Regional Economic Development Body in the Greater Vancouver Regional District. Alderman Gates advised he was not in favour of setting up this Body. From the Land Sales Committee, July 3rd, 1980 regardinys the sale of City property ~ 1792 Coquitlam Avenue and 1791 Suffolk Avenue - and recommending that a Zoning Amendment By-law be prepared to rezone these two parcels to RT~1 to permit duplex construction. Moved by Alderman Traboulay: Seconded by Alderman Mabbett: That as recommended by the Land Sales Committee, July 3rd, 1980 Parcels "L" and "M" (By-law Plan 49252), District Lot 466, Group One, Plan 2294, New Westminster District, addressed as 1792 Coquitlam Avenue and 1791 Suffolk Avenue proceed to Public Hearing for rezoning from RS-1 to RT~1. Carried. Alderman Wright introduced a By-law to amend the "City of Port Coquitlam Zoning By-law, 1979, No.. 1651". Moved by Alderman Wright: Seconded by Alderman Traboulay: That By-law No. 1769 be read a first time. Carried.
