March 5th, 1975 From: Mayor Campbell re G.V.R.D. Meeting - cont'd. Page - 2 - I voted against the motion. I might point out, for example, that the Queen's Park Hospital just received $140,000 for planning funds for a tot:al of $198,200. This recommendation came from the Advisory Board. An extra $35,000. was voted to the Airport Planning Committee. I voted against this because Richmond's stand is that they have a very active Commitiee and therefore the G.V.R.D. need not get involved. Again, I lost and the $35,000. was voted in. It has been recommended that we consider leasing 100 acres of land at the Capilano watershed to the Grouse Mountain Resorts. As an alternative, they are going to study placing housing in that area. We turned over land’ that we had a lease on at the Mount Seymour Park to the Provincial Parks Branch. ‘The G.V.R.D. will be carrying out a study on sanitary sewer trunks, storm sewer trunks and water trunks for its Burke Mountain development. Dunhill will pay all the costs. | The G.V.R.D. accepted a Noise Control By-law which I have handed over to our Planning Officer for recommendations. It is based primarily on Burnaby's Noise. By-law. Aldergrove Lake with all its problems arose again. As it is 2 man-made lake it is considered a swimming pool and must have guards. If we place life guards ‘at it then it must be brought up to swimming pool standards which would cost about $1,000,000.00. I voted against opening it but che motion carried. We agreed to go into a study on the Endowment Lands if the Provincial Government will also take part. The budget for the water and sewer was passed.
