Re: Advancing Payment Date For 1979 Sewer and Water Bills

Our Treasurer, Mr. J.G. Maitland, has asked me to request that
Council confirm, in Formal Session, its recent decision made during the
course of Budget discussions to advance the payment date for Water and
Sewer Bills in 1979 and subsequent years to the end of March.

The Treasury Department proposes to put a 'sticker' on 1978 Water
and Sewer Bills advising of the change and this sticker will be in the

following form:

ADVANCE

INFORMATION
19°79
DUE DATE
MARGH 30
10% Penalty on ALL
1979 Rates Unpaid
after March 30, 1979

In order to effect the change requested, might we suggest that
Council give consideration to passage of the following resolution:

“That the City Clerk be instructed to prepare the necessary By-laws
to advance the payment dates for Water and Sewer accounts to the close
of business on the last Friday in March in each year;

AND THAT a 10% penalty be levied on all sewer and water rates
unpaid after the due date hereinbefore specified."
