ANNUAL SALE ] Tt's membership feed-back tlme!! In the interests of better serving you, we're asking you to give some thought to the issues raised below, and to get your responses back to us as soon as you tan. Thank youl! Firstly, prellminary planning for the Guild's Annual Christmas Sale is underway once again. The guesliuns of where, when, and how need to be answered soon. Since the Guild relies heavily on your time and support during the sale (particularly 1f you're selling in it}, you should have some input.. Essentially, the decislon ls whether to have the sale at the Robson Square Media Centre or at the whole or part of our Granville Island location. Robson Square, though costing $1500 In rent for the three days thls past year, and demanding a let o£ preparatory work, has some advantages. Office lunch hours and downtown business traffic during the week have brought us 4 market which would be very hard to duplicate on Granville Island. It has thereby broadened our iLmage, and helped to promote the Gallery last November, as well. There is also something special about that space when it has been set up. It's an EVENT, that's all! The Granville [sland site has some advantages, too. We would be using space which we are already paying for. Advertising for the annual sale at that lecatlon would serve to strengthen the public's awareness of the Gallery's presence there. Though we would still rely heavily on your assistance for the sale's success, we could hold it £or a longer period of time, and perhaps ease the stress of mammoth energy expenditures over a 3-day event by spreading them over a ten day or two week period, Bo you believe me? Bue to the avallability of less Space, Fewer pots and bodies would be needed at any one tlme to occupy and opérate the space. Finally, the question of money as it directly affects your pocket. At the moment, due to In¢reases In postage rates and printing costs, the newsletter eats a large proportion of cur annual membership dues. We are doing our best to cut back wherever possible (without affecting the news). It has been suggested that fees be increased, starting in January '87. Your present membership would be extended From the end of August "86 to that date. What's your fee threshold? Would you still be 4&2 member Lf Lt want up to $25,007 Remember, the Potters Guild has an obligation to do more than just senc out a monthly newsletter. 4
