This group of artists, known as the “Family Four’’, consists of Don Thom- son, Jean M. Thomson, Vikki MacKay, and Joanne D. Thomson, who is currently living i in Surrey B.C. by Philip Musselman Individually, each family member has had past displays of their own artwork, but never before has the family had a group display. The paintings are mostly scenic ones of places that the four artists. have visited in B.C., and there are oil, acrylic, and watercolor paintings. All the works are up for sale. Don Thomson has exhibited in several galleries in the lower mainland includ- ing a one-man show in Eatons’ in downtown Vancouver. Don has also taught night school courses in art during the 1970’s. In this display Don’s works are all either oils or acrylics and they all are perspectives of places Don has been . Don Thomson's wife Jean M. Thomson has been painting for about 13 years. In the show, Jean’s paintings are of the oil variety and the frames have been con- structed out of yellow- cedar and mahogany by her husband. Jean prefers to paint on-site . and has received formal training through the Emily Carr College of Art. Vikki MacKay was first instructed by her father Don Thomson, and has a great love for landscape painting. MacKay has not had a formal showing, but has sold paintings; her choice of medium for this show is watercolor. MacKay received formal training through Emily Carr College and is very fond of painting the. Lakelse Lake area. Joanne Thomson is presently living in Sidney B.C. and is teaching art classes.
