A regular meeting of the Municipal Council of The Corporation of the City of Port Coquitlam was held in the Council Chambers, Port Coquitlarn City Hall, 2580 Shaughnessy Street, Port Coquitlam, BC on Monday, September 26, 1994, at 7:30 p.m. Mayor L.M. Traboulay, and Councillors M.D. Gates, M.J. Gordon, J.J. Keryluk, W.W. Stewart, and it.H. Talbot were in attendance. Also in attendance were City Administrator T.M. Chong, City Treasurer/Deputy Administrator J.G.S. Maitland, City Clerk S. Rauh, Director of Community Planning C.F. Felip, and Fire Chief G.W. Routley. That the minutes of the Public Hearing and Regular Council Meeting of September 12, 1994 be taken as read and adopted. Whereas the needless loss of lives and property as a result of fire could be significantly reduced or eliminated by individual and commiunity fire prevention programs; and Whereas the members of the Fire Service and other public agencies in combining their talents and efforts ensure a successful fight against those conditions which cause fire; and Whereas each citizen must earnestly desire to provide a fire-safe place in which to live and work by eliminating those fire hazards which cause the loss of life, property, employment and the resources by which we exit; and . And whereas the local efforts of the fire service are supported by the activities of organizations ‘such as Fire Prevention Canada, Canadian Association of Fire Chiefs’, Commissioners, Fire Marshal Association of North America, the International Association of Arson Investigators, International Association of Fire Fighters’, various fire instructor associations and fire prevention officers’ association, ‘Now therefore I, Leonard M. Traboulay, Mayor of the Corporation of The City of Port Coquitlam, DO HEREBY PROCLAIM the week of October 9th to 15th, 1994, as - "FIRE PREVENTION WHER" [ call upon the people of this City to participate in fire prevention activities at home, work and school, and public information agencies in a co-ordinated effort to provide effective fire prevention programs which will instill in the minds of each citizen those fire safety practices . which will reduce the loss of life and property as a result of fire.
