THR CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM TO: BR. Kirk June 6, 1990 City Administrator FROM: D.G. Riecken Acting City Engineer SUBJECT: Improvements to Mary Hill Road Sewerage Pump Station (Public Works Committee Meeting May 29, 1990) RECOMMENDATION: That Council approve the expenditure of $31,800 to convert the electrical service at this pumping station to three phase power and to provide new anodes for corrosion protection, and that the funding be allocated from the 1990 Capital Sewer Budget. BACKGROUND AND COMMENTS The existing pumping station located in the 1300 block of Mary Hill Road is an old station serviced by single phase power which is converted to three phase power using 4n add a phase unit. With the construction of the Westview/Genstar pump station further south on Mary Hill Road, three phase power ducts will be installed past the existing station. Converting to three phase will increase the reliability and reduce the maintenance costs at the station. When Westview reconstructed Mary Hill Road, they were required to install an extension to the steel tan’. comprising the wet well of the station. When this work was dore it was discovered that the anodes which protect the tank against corrosion required replacement. Since these were not affected by tne raising of the station it is appropriate that the City pay for the anode replacement. The cost breakdown for the work is as follows: Conversion of power to 3 phase $30 ,300 Replacement of Anodes ¢ 1,500 Total $31,800
